About this class

Dual language German & English class! We've designed this class to support the whole, young family to learn together. Children and their special adults get the chance to continue to connect with the natural world, build skills like creativity, problem solving and teamwork, strengthen their senses and move their bodies—all during the magical season of winter. Leaders support children in accessing our open-ended curriculum in an age-appropriate way while also making sure that kids benefit from being part of a group. Over 8 sessions, you’ll be amazed at how much kids grow and how easily they fall in love with rosy-cheeked, outdoor, winter fun. We think the adult who joins them will love winter in a whole new way too! Class will be conducted in German and English.

This class meets for a total of 8 sessions. Please see the days of the week above to know when and how frequently the class meets. Class takes place at the location specified. Your leader will email in advance of class if there is to be any change in location.

  • Class limit: 12 children per class
  • Parents or caregivers accompany their child in the class and, through each activity, learn how to guide this powerful method of teaching their kids. Parents also get preparation and follow up emails for each class, which include ideas on how to extend the learning on your own.
  • Siblings are welcome to come together with one or more caregivers. The second and subsequent siblings to register receive(s) a 15% discount. Siblings under 12 months join at no cost and need not be formally registered.
  • We enjoy learning in all weather except for thunderstorms or rare days where the weather is just too wet or too cold to make for safe learning. Classes canceled due to weather will be made up. The typical time for a "make up" class is the same day and time, one week following the scheduled final class.
  • Parents, you can see a chart that helps our leaders decide when cold is too cold.
  • Kids should come prepared with water, healthy, nut-free snack and appropriate clothing for winter fun. Visit tinkergarten.com/pages/winter-weather to read our recommendations for the best winter clothing for outdoor play.
  • Class always ends with time to eat snack (provided by each family) and some warm, blueberry tea (provided by Tinkergarten) as we synthesize what we have learned and experienced that day.
  • “ The leaders are amazing, ours truly made the class fun for the kids. My daughter now can't get enough of mud. ”
    — Mom to a 22 month old
“ I learned how and when to step back and let my son be himself in certain situations. That was a lesson that I needed so much as a parent. The leader was able to communicate this in such a gentle and generalized way that I was able to step back and see myself. Not only was that a useful lesson, it was life changing. ”
    — Mom to a 3-year-old
“ Everything was perfect. I liked being reminded that it's okay for my child to be messy. ”
    — Dad to a 3 year old
